Your vehicle livery and shop fascia are as important a part of your overall branding as your website. The big difference with this form of advertising is it's doing the job of being out there in people's faces whether they're looking for a builder, a plumber or a burger. They don't have to google it, they won't come across it in a magazine, it's right there, on the street or moving around your town, or your city or up and down your country. So what are the biggest mistakes businesses make with this golden window of opportunity?

Well the worst one is not taking advantage of it at all. If you see a plain white van driving around town, yes, it could be privately owned, or more likely it belongs to a sole trader, a partner, or a company. They're just keeping it a secret who they are, and what they do. I mean, who would want to know that after all?

The second one is a badly signwritten

vehicle. Who does this? Well if you leave it to a signwriting firm to do this without any design input from the guy who built your website, designed your logo, and chose the type face, what you'll get is the standard signwriters idea of vehicle livery. Small lettering in coloured vinyl (Yeeugh!) and letters that go across doors, (Why?) that seems to be obligatory with a lot of signwriters who aren't designers. They see vans and cars as a series of panels, rather than a great advertising medium.
